How To Get On and Under Ironforge

So I will begin with the how to get under Ironforge because it is the simpler of the two to explain. First off, you will need a mage friend that has the polymorph skill! If you are 70, and they are 20, you may resist it and it may take a few tries, so a mage that is your level or higher is best!

What you need to do is right in front of the AH in IF on the side with the mailbox, jump up on the ledge and get right in the corner behind the pillar at 32,64 (see following picture)

So one of you needs to stand here and start a duel with the other. Once the duel is started you both need to boot it to 47,60 (follow the path on the following map)

Once there, you need to use the brazier to jump up on the little ledge there, and when you're up there, your mage needs to sheep you and you will fall through into "Old Ironforge". You can follow the tunnel down into a big cool looking chamber that reminds me of the inside of Blackrock Mountain, lol.

How to get on top of Ironforge:
Alright, so for this one, all you need is you! Head to the North Gate Pass in Loch Modan and get to the spot (19,15) shown as the red X below.

You must then jump in a zig zag pattern up this hill. It could take a while, but just try and follow along with the contours of the ground and it should be no problem!

Once you make it up, take a left and go past 2 trees and then left again around a third tree. You can keep an eye on your mini-map, because you can kind of make out the path on it.

You then go right and up a rather steep hill that might take you a minute or two to get up. Once you climb it, head to (12,10)

Keep heading along the "path" (basically the only way you can go without dropping off a cliff) and get to (14,15) where you cross over in Dun Morog at (84,21)

You can then skirt around the mountain at (76,17) to (72,17). This will bring you to the airport. I'm sure you'll want to do a lot of exploring here because there are a lot of cool little things to check out, but when you are ready to continue, head to (69, 40). From there, get to (62,32) where you should find a camp (the following picture).

Then turn and head up the hill towards (54, 30)

From the top of the hill you should be able to pick out the platform at (53,33), and you now have to drop down a little ways so that you can stand on it.

Now heal up, and then jump off on the left so you don't die =)
You will then find the IF gates not far from you, so make your way to them (17,85) and drop down to the snowy part. Then go to the left (carefully, walking is probably best so you don't miss the ledge below!). Then go forward twice, and then SE to the lowest platform. (All shown in the pic below)

Then you just follow the ledge around to the front of the gate, where you can sit and watch people duel if you'd like!

To get down, you can move slowly down the wall if you follow the ledge around to the side you did not drop down from. It's sort of difficult though, so hopefully you will have a bubble or a hearth on cool down!

So hopefully this will help if you want to go exploring in your free time on WoW! If you have any questions or if anything isn't clear, please post a comment and let me know!

Cool. I knew about both, although I never tried the Under IronForge trick... from what I recall, the reason the old area is there is it's a leftover from when Ironforge had multiple levels and bridges. (You can see it in some early promo movies of the game) They reduced the size because of the increased client lag the complex layout caused.

I've done the atop Ironforge, you can also use that technique to get to the Dustwallow highland farms, although it's easiest done with some kind of fall-breaking ability. Last time I tried the path, though, I had a heck of a time trying to find my way up... I wondered if Blizzard had finally dropped an invisible wall there.
